Problem statement
Uber is a technology company that is changing the way the world thinks about transportation. We have been growing globally at an incredible pace and are scaling a hyper efficient revenue systems infrastructure.
Our revenue platform environment supports the needs of our customers (e.g. Rider, Driver, Eaters, Restaurants, etc.). A key to Uber’s success is to be able to accurately and completely account for all events on the Uber platform (e.g. trips, Eats orders), quickly and efficiently onboard new LOBs on the platform, flexibly support local business requirements across 70 countries / 700+ cities, scale and integrate with core financial applications, ensure operational effectiveness for our billing team, and provide financial data for business insights and P&L analysis downstream.
What other platforms and systems would you expect to have to interface?
MakeMyTrip is an Indian online travel company that provides online travel services including airline tickets, domestic and international holiday packages, hotel reservations, rail, and bus tickets. They have 19 million Monthly Active Users. These users use Make My Trip platform to book online flights, hotels, and holiday packages. As a travel company Make My Trip is not into the taxi business nor into food delivery.
However, with a strategic integration with Uber, MMT can use the Uber platform to enrich their customer travel experience. They just have to call Uber API to use either cab service or food delivery service around the world for their guest. Uber is the market leader in the transportation segment can benefit from this strategic integration. Uber can earn a margin with each transaction/order placed from Make My Trip Web/App. Additionally, Uber can use MMT user base as a prospective customer base.
Similarly, the interface can be extended between other market players as well. OYO Rooms, an Indian multinational hospitality chain of leased and franchised hotels, homes, and living spaces can use the Uber platform for providing its User with a hassle-free commuting experience to their hotels/rooms and living spaces. The user can easily book a cab or order food within OYO platform just by calling Uber API.
Observe, how Uber fills in all the road commute requirements while a user is on a trip. Uber may collaborate with MMT, OYO etc facilitating all the road travel needs, which in turn increase Uber’s revenue.
